Paterson, New Jersey – March 28, 2025. – In an unprecedented alliance, UNETE Foundation and the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in New Jersey have launched a free healthcare program that will directly benefit over 368,000 Dominican residents in the state—including more than 80,000 in the city of Paterson. The program is open to all individuals from minority communities, regardless of immigration status, language, or financial situation.
The new medical office, located inside the Dominican Consulate, is named the Dr. Patricia Campos Medina Medical Office, in honor of the renowned community leader and philanthropist. The name stands as a symbol of her unwavering commitment to dignifying women’s healthcare.
“This space represents a true commitment to health equity. We thank Dr. Patricia Campos Medina for equipping us with the tools to care for, diagnose, and save the lives of many women. We are also deeply grateful to Consul José Santana for giving this project a home and for institutionally supporting a life-saving cause,” said Dr. Irma Hernández, President of UNETE Foundation.
The agreement was signed alongside Consul General José Santana, who stated:
“This alliance strengthens our consular mission and our connection with the community. We are proud to offer free, high-quality healthcare services right here in New Jersey, home to the largest concentration of Dominicans in the United States.”
The medical office will provide comprehensive medical services as part of UNETE Foundation’s healthcare model, including preventive care, early detection campaigns, and follow-up services. In partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health, the NJCEED program will be implemented, focusing on the prevention of breast, cervical, prostate, and colon cancer.
Services offered include:
- Pap smears and mammograms (via mobile units or referrals to partner clinics)
- Screenings for colon and prostate cancer
- Glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride evaluations
- Blood pressure monitoring and nutritional counseling
- Mental health services
Through this initiative, UNETE Foundation reaffirms its commitment to bringing healthcare to those who need it most, in dignified, compassionate, and barrier-free environments. The medical office is open to all individuals from vulnerable communities, regardless of background or immigration status, with the goal of making healthcare a real and accessible right for all.
